This workshop will take on tension and pacing in picture books and novels for kids! We’ll discuss why these two things matter so much, and how they’re different from each other and yet work together, too. You’ll walk away with new tools and new ways of looking at the structure of your story.

This is an interactive workshop and will be limited to 40 attendees.

Ms Boss will have a limited amount of critiques available for additional cost: full picture book manuscripts and 10 pages of a novel. See the “Critique Ticket” option.

All participants will have a 3-month submission window with Ms. Boss.

Karen Boss is an editor at Charlesbridge. She holds an MA in Children’s Literature from Simmons University and is a mentor for their MFA program. Karen also has an MA in higher education administration and worked at colleges and in the nonprofit sector for 15 years. She edits fiction and nonfiction picture books, middle grade, and YA. Before the pandemic, Karen saved her pennies so she could travel to a new country each year, and she hopes to someday do that again.

This workshop will not be recorded.
